Global perspectives on livable and sustainable places

In May 2022, over 200 Anmore residents, community stakeholders and special interest groups attended a special presentation by Rasmus Astrup, design principal and partner at SLA, a globally renowned landscape architecture studio.

Hosted by icona Properties, the events took place at Port Moody Inlet Theatre and provided an opportunity for attendees to meet Rasmus and learn about the innovative design principles behind SLA’s award-winning landscapes, public spaces and masterplanned communities in locations all over the world.

Nature, wellness, sustainability and gathering spaces are themes that have been prioritized by the Anmore community during previous collaborations, which is why icona arranged to have Rasmus present to an audience of Anmore residents.

The topography in Anmore is the biggest gift. That’s how you explore things.

– rasmus astrup, principal at sla

During a keynote presentation, Rasmus discussed best practices in landscape architecture and sustainable, connected and biodiverse community-building, showcased award-winning landscapes from around the world and shared the principles of nature-based design and explore how those principles may apply to icona’s vision for Anmore South.

SLA, a Copenhagen-based, world-renowned landscape architecture studio, is working with icona to bring a nature-based vision of Anmore South to life. By working with global design and sustainability leaders like SLA, we have an opportunity to transform Anmore South into a place where housing diversity and biodiversity can flourish alongside robust amenities and extensive parklands.
