Community showcase: Sharing a community’s vision

In September 2021, icona hosted a community showcase attended by approximately 200 people. The event took place between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Eagle Mountain School and was open to all.

The showcase featured the ideas and concepts generated during a series of co-design workshops held earlier in the summer. The workshops, which were facilitated by the Co-Design Group, an independent community co-design consultancy, were part of icona’s ongoing efforts to collaborate on a vision for the future of the 150 acres of land known as Anmore South.

A total of 60 community members participated in these workshops, during which a professional community consultation artist team collected ideas from the group and sketched those ideas in real time to bring them to life.

Reflecting on the possibilities for Anmore South

Showcase attendees were able to view the ideas generated by their friends and neighbours and provide their own feedback during the event. Attendees who were unable to take part in the original workshops also had the opportunity to meet with an onsite community consultation artist and share their ideas with them. A Q&A tent was also available onsite where members of the icona leadership team were available to answer questions.

icona is committed to a respectful and collaborative development process that reflects the unique needs and acknowledges the unique character of this extraordinary community, and we thank everyone who contributed their thoughtful input during the showcase and the workshop series.
